OUR STORY / ERUM & IRUMBER

KOREAN HERITAGE / THE FOUNDER
Ha-jin KimMosagong No. :012521
We respect the lines, colors and materials of traditional Korean painting. Drawing on experience importing and processing seokchae, we develop formulations, dedicated pans and production methods to bring traditional mineral color into today's creative practice.
UNTIL STONE BECOMES COLORIt felt like a waste for this color to stay inside museums. So I set it by hand, one pan at a time, and brought it to your desk.
THE MAKING OF IRUMBER
From a raw mineral to the paint on your brush. A closer look at the work that brings IRUMBER to life.
01 / MATERIAL & FORMULATION
From importing and processing mineral pigments to ball milling and traditional levigation. Erum refines the grain to 400–500 mesh and establishes the formulation and manufacturing process for six mineral watercolors.
RAW MATERIAL → LEVIGATION → FORMULATION02 / FORM & FUNCTION
A pan inspired by the shape of a Korean inkstone. Five motifs — lotus, dokkaebi, landscape, roof tile and norigae — meet a curved surface designed around the angle of a brush.
FIVE TRADITIONAL MOTIFS / A BRUSH-FRIENDLY CURVE03 / TEST & REFINE
Prototype feedback from East Asian painting majors, traditional painters and studios informs improvements to color and handling. We connect the knowledge of a material to the experience of painting with it.
ARTISTS & STUDIOS / PROTOTYPE FEEDBACKDevelopment details are documented in the October 2026 company profile. ED-XRF analysis of raw stones was carried out by the Korea Polymer Testing & Research Institute in July 2026. Raw-material analysis is not a safety certification of the finished product.
